Starting position

Stand tall holding a wrist roller handle with an overhand grip, arms extended in front at shoulder height, plate hanging at the end of the rope.

  1. 1

Roll the handle forward hand over hand to wind the rope and raise the plate.

  2. 2

Continue until the plate reaches the handle.

  3. 3

Unwind slowly under control to lower the plate.

  4. 4

Repeat with an underhand roll direction on a later set to bias the other side.

Breathing: Breathe steadily throughout; avoid holding your breath.

Coaching tips

  • Arms stay up and straight

  • Small wrist turns

  • Control the lowering

Common mistakes

  • Letting the arms drop

  • Using the shoulders to swing

  • Letting the plate unwind freely

Safety notes

  • Stand on a stable surface and keep feet clear of the plate.
